Contemporary Doors in UK

Post by thunderwunder » 17 Dec 2010, 08:21

We are looking for quality interior and exterior contemporary doors in the UK and we are having a hard time finding them. We found a few websites that have close to what we want but they are expensive and interior door styles are limited making it hard to find exactly what we want.
thanks

When you move away from mass produced products suchs as doors, cabinets, plumbing etc, the price hikes.

Your best economical option is to stay with solid slab doors using contemporary hardware. Maybe get slightly creative using some trim materials on these solid slab doors if you want to create some contemporary designs on them. Hopefully, somebody else on here will know of a source that has a catalogue of contemporary doors. Good luck.

When you're choosing a custom spec door, ensure the weather cannot reach it. Keep that rain and sun off the door. A flush door doesn't have as many openings on the surface which can allow rain and ice to get behind the outer surface. These specified doors usually have lots of these weathering hindrances. e.g. horizontal score lines always look like weak places in the surface finish.

Thanks for your replies. The doors actually aren't custom. Then again the door may be custom in the sense that it is not mass-produced, but it is part of the company catalog. No week in Vegas for either one of us.

Yeah we are considering just using flat panel doors and then working with them to make them look contemporary.
